Stay at your own private country lodge tucked away in the native Kauri bush close to the iconic historic Puhoi Village ... and its World Famous Pub

Relax and plan your day trips to see more RWC games based at Puhoi ... than from any other NZ location.

Kauriglen Lodge Puhoi (www.kauriglen.co.nz) is located very close to the North of Auckland city ... an easy 35 minutes motorway drive from Auckland’s Eden Park ... the principal venue for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

All of the main games, the semis and the final are all here in Auckland or nearby.

All five upper North Island RWC venues, Eden Park, North Harbour (15 mins drive), Whangarei (1hr: 30 drive), Hamilton (2hr: 30 drive) and Rotorua (3hr: 30 drive) are readily reached from Puhoi ... all are accessible if you are based at Kauriglen Lodge ... and that’s over one third of all the RWC games to be played.

The four separate self-contained chalets of the lodge...

  • are nestled on the beautiful green Fiddlers Hill;
  • are set in native bush criss-crossed with safe walking tracks alongside open country beef and sheep grazing pasture;
  • are up close to native birds, glow worms and Maori cultural "taonga" ... treasures ... on show right at your doorstep ... see the website picture gallery at www.kauriglen.co.nz/photos;

Puhoi Historic Village (see www.puhoinz.com) ...

  • Located 1KM off State Highway One all on sealed roadway;
  • From the Lodge the Village is just a 1 KM-ten minute stroll or a 1 minute drive on sealed (tarmac) road to the unique Puhoi Pub with its large Kauri timber-milling themed dining hall-restaurant, the licensed BYO General Store, the boutique shops of the old Puhoi Stables, the Bohemian Settler’s (of 1853) Church and Museum, the Puhoi Community Hall, the world’s smallest public library and the friendly local sports and community club;
  • Set beside the river with its historic and boat launching wharves and hire canoes;
  • 2KM drive to the Art of Cheese restaurant (www.artofcheese.co.nz) where you can see Puhoi Cheese being made through the window.

The lodge facilities are ideal for a large (up to 20 person) RWC group and include ...

  • Four separate chalets-cottages fully serviced each with an on-suite, double beds, all bedding, towels, self-contained fully equipped kitchens, frigs and beer frig, comfortable lounge- ining areas, satellite TV, large decks with country views, fireside heating, BBQ’s supplied;
  • Two large (six person) hot tubs, one bush bordered wood-fired, an open air pizza oven, a Polynesian style long-house with bar, dining area and massive sun deck (seats 20);
  • Sheltered functions deck with marquees (40 seated);
  • High speed internet (free-complimentary), access to laptop (small charge), two and three pin electrical (international) adapters, good cell phone reception, telephone land lines and fax;
  • Parking for up to six vehicles and a campervan hook-up;
  • Qualified local chef and fine dining by arrangement , cooked and continental breakfasts supplied (additional charge) ,espresso coffee, and on site BYO wine cellar (good affordable local NZ wines);
  • 5 minutes drive to the internationally acclaimed Waiwera Thermal Hot Pools and health spa plus Woody’s restaurant;
  • 10 minute drives to the shops and townships of Orewa and Warkworth and the wine-restaurant district of Matakana.

Invitation to Tender

General: Tenders are invited from interested parties for exclusive or shared use of the lodge facilities for the approximately six week period (September –October 2011) covering the duration of the RWC. The lodge can easily accommodate 10 persons and up to double that number depending on sleeping arrangements. Overload (B&B) accommodation may be bookable in the village as part of this arrangement provided bookings are received early enough. Preference will be given to a single group booking for the whole period for sole exclusive use of all of the facilities. Separate bookings can readily be managed however.

Administrative and pricing particulars-indications

An indicative rate of $80 per person per night is ‘in the ballpark’ ... for longer term RWC-themed groups pre-booked ... price quoted is for accommodation only. All other charges for meals and special services such as pre-arranged airport pick-up, hire car and other transport costs, restaurant bookings, local tours etc ... are additional to the quoted figure. The accommodation only tariff includes the full use of the facilities as described (above) plus a regular chalet servicing and as required supply of fresh towels, sheets and so on.

The indicative price is a very competitive per- night rate when compared to motel rates in the Puhoi area. The price is quoted on a shared-facilities basis although separate groups would have their own private use (and a complete set of) their own facilities.

The price indication (above) is NOT a premium RWC rate. It includes the local NZ GST content which is likely to be set at 15% (at present 12.5%) by RWC time. Kauriglen Lodge Puhoi is a NZ registered GST supplier of accommodation services. Note: All NZ GST paid is refundable to qualifying overseas residents. A fully compliant Kauriglen Lodge GST invoice would be supplied to allow for such a claim to be processed.

Terms

All tenders must be accompanied by full credit worthiness credentials, credit card number will be acceptable or a banking guarantee or assurance. The credit advice should include authority to bill the non-refundable deposit of 30% of the accepted tendered amount immediately upon emailed acceptance by Larry Mitchell of the tender. A refundable bond of $NZ 2000 payable on arrival will apply.

Particulars of the Kauriglen Lodge solicitor‘s trust bank account for lodgment of the deposit payment and bond will be supplied at tender acceptance time or upon request. The successful tenderer(s) will be notified by email one week after tenders close, the deposit will be immediately (within 24 hrs) payable at this settlement date. The full amount of the balance of the accepted tendered amount (a non-refundable 70%) will be payable no later than 31 March 2011. All payments received and written assurances of contractual completion ... provision of accommodation will be verifiable via the Kauriglen Lodge solicitor.
